Scope of Pharmacy

Pharmacy is the art and science of preparing and dispensing medications and the provision of drug-related information to the public.Mission of pharmacy- 'the profession responsible for the appropriate use of medications, devices, and services to achieve optimal therapeutic outcomes.' The current philosophy or approach to professional practice in pharmacy is designated as pharmaceutical care. Role of a pharmacist- the responsible provision of drug therapy for the purpose of achieving definite outcomes that improve a patient's quality of life. They are experts on medications. They are the most accessible member of today's health care team, and often are the first source of assistance and advice on many common ailments and health care matters.

Library

The fundamental pedagogical tool even today remain in books. The epicenter of in-depth research & reference, the institute libraries are well-stocked, computerised & serve as primary resource centers The collection of over 6,000 volumes of books, references, textbooks, periodicals and journals-both national & international pertaining to pharmacy & allied subjects is constantly enriched with references beyond those prescribed in the syllabus.The library subscribes to various national & international journals in the print format besides providing access to electronic database through DELNET. It is also being developed into a digital library with network facility i.e. an integrated Knowledge Resource Center.

The library staff and faculty co-coordinator are always there to assist you.

Book Bank
The process of selecting and buying course books could be really cumbersome for students. To make it easy and trouble-free, the Institute provides text books for the entire semester to all students.

Pharmaceutics Lab I & II



The laboratories are equipped with all the latest as well as conventional equipments like mechanical stirrers, homogenizer, digital balance, microscopes, stage and eye piece micrometers, Brookfield’s viscometer , tray dryer, ball mill, sieve shaker with sieve set, double cone blender, propeller type mechanical agitator, autoclave, steam distillation still, standard sieves set, zone reader, digital pH meter, sterility testing unit, heating mantle, flourimeter, vacuum pump, micropipettes (single and multi channeled), micro centrifuge, projection microscope, tablet punching machine, tablet coating pan, ampoule filling machine, friability test apparatus, capsule filling machine bulk density apparatus, conical percolator & humidity control oven.

Pharmaceutical Chemistry Lab I and II



It is a modernized lab with instruments like polarimeter, auto Karlfischer apparatus, magnetic stirrer, melting point appratus,hot plates, oven, refrigerator, analytical balances, suction pumps, Muffle furnace, vacuum pump & microwave oven.

Pharmacognosy Lab



It is equipped with digital balance, hot air oven, B.O.D., incubator, zone reader, digital pH meter, sterility testing unit, camera lucida, eye piece micrometer, incinerator, moisture balance, flourimeter, vacuum pump, micropipettes (single and multi channeled), micro centrifuge & projection microscope.

Pharmacology Lab

Pharmaceutical Biotechnology Lab



A totally modernized laboratory equipped with modern apparatus like orbital shaker incubator, lyophilizer , gel electrophoresis (vertical and horizontal), phase contrast/trinocular microscope, refrigerated centrifuge, tissue culture station, laminar airflow unit, diagnostic kits to identify infectious agents, rheometer, viscometer, micropipettes (single and multi channeled), sonicator, respinometer, BOD incubator, paper electrophoresis unit, micro centrifuge, incubator water bath, autoclave, refrigerator, filtration assembly, digital pH meter. A sterile room has been added to get accurate results from different culture & sensitivity tests.

Machine Room



The Central Machine Room has highly sophisticated tools and instruments like tablet punching machine, capsule filling machine, ampoule washing machine, tablet disintegration test apparatus IP, tablet dissolution test apparatus IP, Monsanto’s hardness tester,Pfizer type hardness tester, clarity test apparatus, tablet coating pan. These instruments develop scientific acumen among students through experiential learning.

Central Instrumentation Room



Hi-end instruments for advanced learning-calorimeter, digital pH meter, UV- visible spectrophotometer, flourimeter, digital balance (1mg sensitivity), potentiometer, conductivity meter are available to keep the students abreast with the latest technology and know-how.
